SHARPER THAN A SWORD

SERMONS

Hebrews 4:12-13 "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account."

5 Characteristics of the Godly!

Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 8:8-15

A Godly are a People of Prayer!

“When all we can do is pray, that is the most we can do.”

We are commanded to do without ceasing – 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

Most Christians do not practice it as well as they should, or they do it completely wrong – James 4:1-3; 1 John 5:14-15.

It is the one thing that Christians ask to learn the most – Luke 11:1-4.

It is something that grows with knowledge of God’s word – Romans 8:26-28.

There were so many godly men in the Bible that were passionate about prayer, but Daniel the Prophet stands out because he prayed three times a day and even risked being fed to the lions.

The high officials and satraps hated Daniel so much that they tried to find a way to have him break the king’s law (Dan 6:1-6).

When they could find nothing to accuse Daniel of, they convinced the king to create a law that would trap Daniel (Dan 6:7), so what does Daniel do after hearing about this?

(Dan 6:10-11) so Daniel changed nothing! He continued to pray as always…

That is what a godly person will do; pray, even while it is inconvenient or there is a risk of death and even when all is well.

God delivered Daniel out of the lion’s den or pit and who knows that if that is what Daniel prayed for. The godly are prayer warriors, like Daniel.

Paul and Silas – Acts 16:25.

This is a strength we must develop, there has always been a time of urgency for prayer, but all would agree, we need to pray without ceasing!!!
