SHARPER THAN A SWORD

SERMONS

Hebrews 4:12-13 "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account."

5 Characteristics of the Godly!

Scripture Reading: Jude 24-25

There are many attributes of a godly individual but here are five characteristics of what the Bible would call a “godly person.”

The Godly Puts God First – 2 Corinthians 5:17-19

Haggai – Share

1.     Build God’s house!

2.     Remain faithful to God’s promises!

3.     Be holy and enjoy God’s provisions!

4.     Keep our hope in the Messiah!

This might be the most important of all characteristics of a godly person. They must put God first and foremost in his life above anyone and anything else.

This is an issue of priorities!

1.     Your Heart! 1 Peter 3:15.

2.     Your Time! Romans 13:11-14.

3.     Your Resources! Romans 12:6-8.

·        A wife or a husband prioritize the other’s needs, over the Lord –

the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God (Duet. 4:24). This is about the anger of God set against those who make idols of anything other than God.

·        By putting God first, the godly husband will seek to love His wife as it says “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her (Eph 5:25). If the man put his wife above God, that would be idolatry and God would never bless anyone that has someone else or something else taking the place of God. Read Matthew 10:34-39.

·        The throne of God is a one-seater and we must resign as the chairman of the board to our own lives.

A Parable of foolishness!

Luke 12:13-21
