SHARPER THAN A SWORD

SERMONS

Hebrews 4:12-13 "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account."

5 Characteristics of the Godly!

Scripture Reading: Romans 6:17-18

The Godly Obey the Word!

Ø  Romans 6 – Read.

o    We should no longer serve sin!

o    Christ lives to GodLikewise you also!

o    Present yourselves as instruments of righteousness to God!

o    We became servants of righteousness!

o    We became servants of God!

Ø  James 1:18-25

o    Receive the word!

o    Do not be deceived!

o    We must be doers of the work!

o   If I went up to the mirror and thought, “I need a shave” then walked away, I would quickly forget that I have got stubble on my face during the day. But if I go to the mirror and not just say I need a shave but shave, then I would be a doer and not a hearer only. Talk is so cheap, but action speaks a lot louder than any of our words do.

Ø  James 2:14-25 – Faith of Abraham!

o   Speak to Romans 4:1-4;13-25 –

o   Do you honestly think God would have promised Abraham in disobedience?

o    How can we say we are of Him unless we walk as He walked – 1 John 2:3-6.

Conclusion

o   The truth is that The godly has perished from the earth, and there is no one upright among mankind; they all lie in wait for blood, and each hunts the other with a net(Micah 7:2)

o   And that none of us are good, not even one of us (Rom 3:10-12)

o   So, we need the very righteousness of Christ to be imputed on our behalf or God will not accept us (Romans 1:16-17)

o   But thankfully, that happens now a person repents and trusts in Christ.

o   God will not accept any human goodness.

We must ‘Put God 1st’, ‘walk humbly with God’, ‘be generous at all times’, ‘pray without ceasing’, and ‘obey all of God’s word!
