SHARPER THAN A SWORD

SERMONS

Hebrews 4:12-13 "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account."

My Day!

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:1-16

Intro: We look forward to certain days (holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, etc…); however, a little different than this one.

John 8:56 – Jesus engaged in heavy verbal combat with His own people over His true identity. Vs. 53, “Are you greater than our father Abraham, who is dead?”

Culminating in statement of Verse 58.

What did Abraham rejoice in, as he looked to the Messiah’s day?

Hebrews 11:13-16

Promises:

2 Peter 1:2-4 Exceedingly great and precious promises through a knowledge of Him.

What kind of knowledge?

·        Redemption 1 Peter 1:17-25Buying us back! Thus making us His children (relationship!).

Matthew 20:28just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

Titus 2:14who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.”

Do I need this?

Hebrews 11:6

1st  step in seeking God, 1 John 1:5; to know what God gave to take away our sins – the Christ of God. To have life in His name (John 20:30-31) = Acts 2:38 + 2 John 9 Abide in His doctrine!

·        Prepared Us a Home

John 14:1-3 – I go to prepare a place for you – where I Am you may be also!

Language is the means by which communication, comprehension, understanding is conveyed. God knew that the only way for us to comprehend His realm and promises was to use language we could understand.
