Something's to Consider

This was given to me by a sister in Christ from Oregon. I do not have the original author in order to give proper credit; however, it is truly something to consider!

WEEK #1 – SILENCE

Speak pleasantly with patience.

“Speak only to benefit others or yourself; avoid conversation with no meaning”.

Ephesians 4:29 “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.”

WEEK #2 – ORDER

“Let all things have their places; let whatever you have to do have its own time”

1 Corinthians 14:40 “Let all things be done decently and in order.”

“Avoid confusion. Prioritize!

Week #3 – RESOLUTION

“Resolve to perform what you ought; perform without fail what you resolve”.

Luke 16:10 He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much.

Graciously doing right!

WEEK #4 – TEMPERANCE

“Eat not to dullness: drink not to elevation”.

Proverbs 17:27-28 “He who has knowledge spares his words, And a man of understanding is of a calm spirit. 28 Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.”

Temperance (Greek word ‘Kratos'): strength or self-control, slow to anger.

WEEK #5 – FRUGALITY

Do good to others & self.

“Make no expense but to do good to others or yourself; waste nothing”.

Use your God given talents.

WEEK #6 – INDUSTRY

Study; keep your goal in mind.

“Lose no time; be always employed in something useful; cut off all unnecessary actions”.

Be bust in God's work & creation.

WEEK #7 – SINCERITY

Truthful, genuine, & earnest.

“Use no hurtful deceit; think innocently and justly; and if you speak accordingly -

Proverbs 15:1 “A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.”

WEEK #8 – TRANQUILITY

Quiet, calm and peacefulness.

“Be not disturbed at trifles, or at accidents”

Proverbs 14:30 “A sound (tranquil) heart is life to the body, But envy is rottenness to the bones.”

WEEK #9 – JUSTICE

Impartial and lawful.

“Wrong no one by doing injuries or omitting the benefits that are your duty”.

“For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it shall.”

WEEK #10 – INNOCENCE

With purity, not worldly … sinless.

James 3:17 “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.”

WEEK #11 – MODERATION

Temperate, with reserve, quiet.

“Avoid extremes; forbear resenting injuries so much as you think they deserve”.

Philippians 4:5 “Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.”

“Not defensive”.

WEEK #12 – HUMILITY

Humble, ethical, & proper.

“Imitate Jesus”

Proverbs 16:5 “Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; Though they join forces, none will go unpunished.”

WEEK #13 – CLEANLINESS

Complete & pure in manner.

“Tolerate no uncleanness in body, clothes or habitation.”

Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”
