-- The Correct Diet for Salvation --

Everyday we get hungry and we eat. We all have our favorite foods. Yet, it is an un-deniable fact that most of the foods we eat are not good for us (especially if they taste great!). On the other hand, the foods that are the best for our health often are the ones that do not appeal to our palates.

This same dilemma seems to exist in the lives of Christians as well. We are hungry, yet we are not seeking the food that is best for our spiritual health. We are looking for fast food, food that is pleasant, easy to swallow.

Jesus came to the lost sheep of Israel and preached to those who were ‘not' hungering and thirsting for righteousness, note:

Matthew 13:15 For the hearts of this people have grown dull . Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn , So that I should heal them.”

Matthew 15:9 “And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.' "

Luke 18:9 “Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous , and despised others:”

These did not seek the wisdom of God. They trusted in themselves and what they wanted from God, not what He wanted from them (they were eating from “Mac Know It Alls”; “Have It My Way”; and Kentucky Fried Self Servants”).

Jesus taught them: Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled .”

Paul praised the Berea Jews, because they exhibited this very nature, note: Acts 17:11

“These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness , and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so .”

To the Christians at Colossi, the Apostle Paul taught: Colossians 1:9-10

“For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding ; that you may walk worthy of the Lord , fully pleasing Him , being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God ;”

What does your spiritual diet consist of? Does it mirror the instruction of Jesus to the Jews? Does it follow in the steps of the teaching of Paul to the Christians at Colossi? Do we search the scriptures daily to fill our spiritual hunger, as those in Berea ? These are the dietary foods that fill and satisfy with true righteousness.
