Walk in Love -

Ephesians 5:1-7 "Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

3 But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; 4 neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers with them."

Some have called this the "Walk of the Church"; with some accuracy!

In the introduction of "Walking in Love", there are three primary points of recognition:

Uniquely, this is very similar to the expository understanding of the Apostle John's letter to Christians to be written long after this. This last Apostle of Jesus Christ would likewise leave the Christians in Asia Minor with three primary points of recognition in order to demonstrate that they were truly the "Children of God", note:

These three points would be further developed in 1 John through the entire letter. Let's take a look at these three points from Ephesians and develop our understanding!

Be Followers of God - Vs. 1

"Therefore" - With all the properties of walking worthy of our calling (Chapter 4:1-32), we must additionally be imitators of God as dear children. This is non-optional (article "Be"; not "Try"); and also acts as commentary on Ephesians 2:8-10.

Walk in Love - Vs. 2

By the pattern given; as Christ loved us!

Warning against Impurity - Vs. 3-7

We must have the same attitude towards sin as God has!

God hates:

In direct contrast to the above -

God Loves:

Next: "Walk in Light!"
