We Are Not Doing What Is Right!

Reading: 2 Kings 6:24-7:20

Four Leprous men lie at the gates of Samaria as the city was besieged by a powerful enemy; the Syrians.

Unknown to these four, the man of God had proclaimed to a servant of the king of Israel (Jehoram), that a severe famine that had struck the land would be lifted (the foreign army of Syria, would be the catalyst by which the famine would be over sooner that by natural means).

These four leprous men determined that if they stayed where they were, they would starve. Since death was eminent, they decided that they would go out to the foreign army and hope to be taken prisoner and possibly survive (they have nothing to lose at this point).

When they came to the enemy camp; to their surprise, no one was there! Yet, everything the Syrians had brought with them (supplies and food for an army), had been left behind. God had driven them away in the night.

As they made their way through the camp and regained their strength and life, they came to an amazing conclusion;

“We are not doing what is right!”

This was a day of good news! They were in possession of life giving knowledge for those who were starving within the city; however, they had not shared this information.

The Lesson:

There is a spiritual famine that exists today. We are in possession of life giving knowledge for those that are starving in the world. This is a day of good news! Yet, “We are not doing what is right!”

We need to be able to say the same as Paul:

Colossians 1:28-29Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. 29 To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.”

Do What Is Right!
